Merry Christmas!! We wanted to thank each of you for an incredible year! We had a wonderful year of touring, and meeting so many new friends out on the road across this beautiful land. You have left deep and wonderful impressions on our hearts, and we are already looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Special thanks to those of you who hosted a show, fed us, allowed the G-Bus to park in your driveways and for each person who supported us this year by coming out to a show or listening to our music, we love you!!
2009 will be a great year for us, you can expect a new album, more touring and laughter and hugs along the way! Stay in touch, stay warm and be blessed!
Jacob and Lily

Warmest Winter Wishes from JnL!

Hey - our performance on Mountain Stage is now streaming online! A brief excerpt from NPR Music’s website:
“With Adolphe’s powerful, passionate voice and steady guitar strumming combined with Friesen’s meticulous and driving rhythmic work, the duo builds a bold sound based around Adolphe’s songs, which explore the surreal wonders and natural emotions of life”
Listen to us perform the songs “Ruby” and “Tiptoe Stomp” live HERE!
Cheers!

Hey friends!
We’ve just flown home from an incredible weekend, participating in the 2008 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest. The beautiful glowing maples of Charleston, West Virginia welcomed us almost as warmly as our driver Dick Patton did, along with the entire NewSong family - president Gar Ragland, co-founders Douglas Imbrogno and Ron Sowell, Dan Connway, and many others. The weekend was spent with the other 12 finalists - a beautiful and unique collection of songwriters mostly from the US. The weekend was full of great conversation, hotel room jams with mini tamborines, picnics, and a collective show/contest at the Cultural Centre Theatre (home of the internationally broadcast Mountain Stage Radio and Television Show).
We were selected as one of the 5 co-winners of the contest! We also won a performance the following day on the sold out Mountain Stage show featuring Patty Loveless, The Dan Tyminski Band (Oh Brother Where Art Thou anyone?) and Chris Knight. The whole show was recorded, and is probably most easily heard on the Mounstain Stage Website. Stay tuned for a video documenting the whole event.
We feel pretty honored, as each of the finalists presented an impossible task for the judges. Overall, it actually didn’t feel like much of a contest at all - as community and collaboration are at the heart of NewSong. We are looking forward to reconnecting with all of our new friends again soon. Check here for links to the other finalists! See you soon!

Hey friends! We wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out to Farm Fest! It was a huge success and we will be back for the 4th annual Farm Fest next year!!
As for now we wanted to update you on a few changes in the Jacob and Lily world. We are taking a 6 month break to rest and recover from 3 years of solid touring, as well as write songs for a new album!! We are excited about this time off and anticipate some really cool things.
Karla and Gary are moving to Colorado on Oct 5 and will be based out of there for the next 3 years, Caleb is staying here and doing some schooling. We are going to miss eachother for sure!
In celebration of our last 3 years and a great summer the Winnipeg Folk Festival is helping us have a great farewell party!
On Saturday September 27 we are doing a “normal” Jacob and Lily show with special guest Brian James. This show will be recorded by the CBC radio, so we need a full house! Show is at 8:00pm
On Sunday Sept 28 we are having an afternoon hootenany with Twilight Hotel, Brian James and Rik Leaf. This will not be a concert you can afford to miss!! Show is at 4:00pm
Tickets are $12 adv or $15 at the door and can be purchased at the Winnipeg Folk Festival Store 211 Bannatyne.
We hope to see you there!!!!!
PS Last time we sold out!
